Two practical notes from case-market history. First, the rare special pool matters more than the skin pool for long-term case value: containers whose knives or gloves stay fashionable keep their price floors long after the skins inside fade. Second, key cost is fixed at $2.49 by Valve while case prices float freely - so the true cost of opening cheap cases is dominated by the key, which is exactly why sub-$0.50 cases are less of a bargain than they look.
